National Railway Museum: Waterloo Station mats

 Here is a larger scale image of part 2 of the new Waterloo Station Jigsaw set of table and serving mats, the detail is just fantastic - the artist Helen McKie was commissioned to produce the poster for Southern Railways in 1948 to commemorate the centenary of Waterloo Station...here's hoping that they'll be arriving on a table near you soon...

Went Out To Tea - Launch

Inspired by the diary of World War 1 nurse, Clarice Spratling, Dawn Cole has worked with Jenny Duff to design this beautiful range of table mats and coasters.  On first viewing it appears that the design is traditional lace, but on closer inspection it can be seen that the pattern is created using the words Went Out To Tea With A Friend - an extract from Clarice's diary.  Dawn Cole is a printmaker who has exhibited internationally, most recently at the International Kyoto Hanga Print Exhibition in Japan, and has work in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum...
