Saturday 14 & Sunday 15 February, 10am to 4pm
Pie Factory Margate, 5 Broad Street, Margate CT9 1EW
I hope that your plans for the weekend they include a day or two at the seaside, as we'd love to see you in Margate for the Brighter Days Spring Makers Market.
We're back at the Pie Factory, a repurposed space in the middle of Margate Old Town, that has been running as a gallery/venue since 2011.
I've had a close connection with the space, from co-curating an exhibition about Walpole Champneys, the original designer of Dreamland with a talk by Wayne Hemingway MBE to being the gallery manager for 6 brilliant years.
I founded Brighter Days in 2013 and we held our first event in March over the spring equinox. Brighter Days were coming. The name has stuck and the group has grown and expanded, with the aim to always bring you, the customer, a selection of original design and products, all from local designers, makers, artisans and craftspeople.
We hope that you will come to Margate this weekend, maybe stay over at Guest House, a beautiful hotel with sea view rooms and follow in the footsteps of Madonna, who was in town a couple of weekends ago, visiting cafes and her friend Tracey Emin. You may have seen the news in The Guardian, The Times or on the radio, it was a big thing for the town and her quote on Instagram sums Margate up brilliantly
"This is my idea of heaven.
"Whenever I go there, I feel like I’ve entered a dream."
Come along to Brighter Days in Margate, you'll find jewellery, ceramics, posters, T-shirts, scarves, hats and, of course, table mats amongst the offerings from 20 plus small East Kent businesses. Chat to the founders, discover what makes the area special and why they do what they do. We hope that you may also find something irresistible, a one of a kind piece that you just have to have or know will make a perfect gift.
Please come on down to see us and to say Hello!
