Today I visited St Margaret-at-Cliffe on the beautiful Kent coast and discovered the house of Ian Fleming nestled under the white cliffs, which has been so wonderfully illustrated by People Will Always Need Plates as one of their range of mugs. I was very pleasantly surprised to be offered a copy of Ian Fleming's book Casino Royale by a passer-by who was distributing it as part of the great World Book Night event, what a co-incidence...
You are invited to join me and twelve selected designers/makers and artists at Brighter Days at the Pie Factory Gallery, 5 Broad Street, Margate CT9 1EW. There will be displays of work by every participant, who have also each designed a table mat on the theme of Thanet - all the marvelous work and the table mats will be available to buy (payment by cash or cheque only). The show will be open from 10am to 5pm on Friday 22nd, Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th March and there will be free workshops led by the artists from 12 to 3pm on the Saturday and Sunday. Why not make it a day out or weekend in Margate? Southeastern Rail are offering £10 return tickets at weekends and there will be plenty to do, with exhibitions at the Turner Contemporary and other galleries and independent shops around the town...hope to see you there...
